Business of Coffee
The Business of Coffee course provides an in-depth overview of the coffee value chain once coffee has left the country of origin. This course examines coffee as a commodity from the perspective of coffee exporters, importers, roasters, and retailers.
Course Topics:
- Coffee value chain: key actors, coffee from production to consumption, shipment and trafficking
- Coffee quality issues in relation to transporting, packaging, inventory control, processing
- Commercial vs. specialty coffee
- Facilities management issues, including machine calibration and other quality control
- Coffee cupping skills to identify flavor and quality in the sensory laboratory
